a short break from predictability

I’ve always wanted to ask:

1. How did you come up with your blog names / aliases?

Any special rationale behind it? A long story? A moment of madness? A lifetime of madness?

2. And the blog itself? Why do you blog? Is it, as LizVeniVidiVici says, a need for a pseudo persona?

I’ll start.

1. The Name – Rogue King:
King is my name. And I know I’m royalty, in Abba’s Kingdom at least.

And I’ve always felt known believed there’s a rebel inside me. Someone who doesn’t want to conform to standards or expectations. Plus, XMen is just too cool.

2. The Blog
I started this blog because I felt the need to share my passions. Life, Business, Design and Technology. Mostly the business stuff I’ve been through, especially for those who may not find it easy to get that kind of help.

And in a way, it’s advice to myself, for those times when I’m being plain stupid and refusing to learn from my lessons.

Your turn.

Offtopic:

The Doc told me I had a dual personality. Then he lays an 82 dollar bill on me, so I give him 41 bucks and say, “Get the other 41 bucks from the other guy.”

I am a deeply superficial person.

I’m dark, like, DUH. And I have a thing for chivalry. Howdy ladies…

    2. The Blog
Emrys! Shut up. Honestly it was a moment of weakness. We were passed out after an eating marathon and we were like… 2 Weak Dudes. And the world rejoiced.

I did take time to check out most of the first posts of the blogs I read and it’s interesting to check out the first posts..Some people just jump into it others are pushed and others just do it.

I’ve meant to write a whole post on alias with particular reference to me own but it’s lost some where in the drafts that seam to be piling up, this is an encouragement to revisit it

So that’s how you became a rebel king? I always assumed you were secretly working with Kony…-You can blame & shell me.

I normally check out the “About Pages” of blogs. They give a fairly significant insight, especially since they’re normally the first things written while the blodthirst is still hot.

      Put up the post.

that Jerry Lewis quote is the best!!

eh mama! emrys and u need to allow us some space too in this dual world of your’s.

name: somebody called himself Aladdin so i said “yeah, cause i’m your regular Jasmine”. Name stuck and when i happened to start blogging a few days later, it was used.

why i blog: i was bored, i was dared. Now, its a place to just be; especially without reason, sense or form.

“cause i’m your regular Jasmine”. That right there. Righteous.

Reason, sense, form or perhaps judgment and sanity?

Whoa! Dude, that track rocks big time. Usual joint Sato? [On my keyboard the question mark and period are the same]

My blog name? Well, it came from extensive research of ancient customs and taboos dating as far back as 2009. Erique. It wasn’t easy to come up with. I had to enlist my mother’s help.

Word. Sato? Not too sure. Will confirm.

About your blog name, it makes sense now. It has a touch of the ancient Mayan culture to it. Rustic, mythical, with a touch of the blase.

Oh wait. It’s just Erique. My bad.

Well My favorite Denzel movie is ‘Crimson Tide’ and before that my favorite Hardy boys mystery was the ‘Crimson Flame’ as for alias ‘Carsozy’ I thought if my name looked Slavic I’d have a better chance with Kournikova.

    • Solomon King  on March 4th, 2009

Hehe. At BHH, one blogger actually thought Carsozy was your real Slavic name. Let’s just say she was a little dissappointed.

Hardy Boys huh? Good times those. Need to watch Crimson Tide. I love the soundtrack.

  12. Mudamuli  on March 4th, 2009

The story goes that when I was about 2 years old, my Aunt Lida (Trudy) and eldest brother Michael used to call me Mudamuli although my real name was Samali.
“Samali!” one of them would call.
    “Wanji!” I would respond.
    “Samali!”
    “Ntikita, ntikita!”

Aunt Trudy and Michael would burst into laughter. So my aunt nicknamed me Samali Mudamuli Ntikita Ntikita (I think to mean Samali the one who responds ‘Ntikita Ntikita’) and it stuck until I was 6. I grew up thinking it was my real name until P.1 (Standard One in Kenya) when I was told it wasn’t.

Very interesting. For almost a month after I discovered your blog, the “Ntikita Ntikita” bit fascinated me, but I let it be.

So you started school in Kenya huh? Interesting.

    1. The name
Petesmama is actually Pete’s Mama. We all have different faces for the different situations in our lives, but right now, I’m first and foremost petesmama.

    2. The blog
Well, about being Pete’s mother and the person it has turned me into. How it has changed me, the thoughts that enter my head because I am his mother, updates on his life. An excuse to write. A place to keep the milestones. A place to remind myself that it is great to be a mama on those days when it doesn’t feel like it.
