a small dose of nostalgia

I recently re-united-ish with a friend from school. He was / is a geek like me and we shared tonnes of stuff, especially the bits about electronics, robotics, aviation, quantum physics etc.

He is living the life of his dreams, with the job he’s always wanted, high risk, crazy stuff, living in a foreign country. He’s also married with an adorable daughter.

What struck me was the way he has orchestrated his life just as he’d planned in school. Exactly like we’d talk about career paths, colleges, etc. I was always optimistic but I knew I never stood a chance of doing what I truly loved. But he seemed to have beaten all the odds.

Anyways, long story short, he got me thinking.

Life has thrown a million curveballs at me, but I ain’t doing too badly. Problem is, I ain’t where I want to be, or should be, which irrevocably means I’m never quite content with what I’ve achieved thus far.

Only problem is the things I want to achieve are… well, impossible, in most people’s books.

Not in my books though.

But.

Isn’t it about time I started working towards my true dreams? Find a way of achieving them while I pursue my current global domination plans?

Sigh.

Yeah, just messed myself up. I can tell I’ve got a long weekend ahead.

    I love that quote…

The thing is..when you compare yourself to someone else you always start having doubts in your head..

Don’t stress about where you are now..but focus on where you want to be…Good luck..

    Bout the weekend…take a ride somewhere..clear your mind a bit…

    And oh yeah..me first!!

Isn’t it the case that after each achievement, the bar raises even further? It all seems so elusive…

Comparison has it’s healthy spots but honestly there is a road marked out for us as individuals that comparing can make things look screwed.
I say run the race that has been marked out for you, you may trip, you may fall, but get up and keep moving. Keep your eyes on the prize (your dream) and you will be amazed how far you have already come.
Just make sure you have Jesus in the mix :-)

Excuse the ramblings of a visitor.
