Calvin & Hobbes – Tracer Bullet

10 Jan

For Baz from a promise made a while back.

And for all you Calvin & Hobbes fans out there, I give you, Tracer Bullet. For those of you who don’t know Calvin & Hobbes ( I’m lookin at you ), ’tis a sad day indeed, but I hope you discover a new world!

Tracer Bullet is one of Calvin’s major alter egos, the other two being Stupendous Man and Spaceman Spiff.

I think there were only about three strips done with Tracer Bullet in them, it was a huge artistic deviation from Bill Watterson’s usual portrayal of Calvin.

From Wikipedia

Tracer Bullet is a hard-boiled private investigator styled after film noir and detective fiction stereotypes, who spouts incisive metaphors and similes in a style reminiscent of the styles of Raymond Chandler and Frank Miller. He wears a trench coat and fedora. He resembles Calvin, though the high-contrast art style Watterson uses in the Tracer Bullet strips obscures Bullet’s features. [ Source ]

Enough. On to the good stuff!

Strip 1 – Haircut

This one’s a brief introduction to Tracer Bullet. Hobbes cuts off Calvin’s hair really badly so Calvin is forced to wear a hat. Tracer Bullet is born.

Strip 2 – School Quiz

Tracer Bullet helps Calvin solve a question on his Maths quizz at school.

Strip 3 – Broken Lamp

Tracer Bullet investigates the destruction of a table lamp.

Happy reading, and have a blessed weekend people!

Aaaah, Clavin & Hobbs, hey dude do you still have that book of them from back in the day?I could use some inspiration. Maybe I should adopt an alter ego. Kat Holmes, ace detective. I’d get a victorian outfit and all. Elementary my dear Solomon.
