ten lessons from 2008

17 Dec

2008 was like being dipped inside a drum full of water, top sealed, with only a tiny hole to breathe and see through at the same time, then getting the drum thrown in the front seat of a roller coaster, which was then attached to a rocket.

Some parts fun, some views beautiful, mostly downright freaky-scaring-the-bollocks-out-of-you.

Here’s what I learnt:

1. Life is a b*tch. And the bitchiness comes in XXXXL.

2. Love is such a beautiful thing. Because it frees the soul, and reveals the true you.

3. Heartbreak sucks like no man’s business. Especially when it comes in XXXXL.

4. Life is waaay too short. Enjoy it, you never know when it will end.

5. The smallest actions can have the biggest consequences. I’d tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.

6. There is a limit to what you can do. Know your weaknesses, your limits, and get help in those areas.

7. If you don’t know where you’re going, it doesnt matter where you end up. Right? Wrong. You need goals. There are some places you don’t want to end up. See 5.

8. There are more important things in life than your career. Like friends, family, life and health.

9. Your family needs you and you need them. Even when you think they don’t. Even when you think you don’t need them.

10. Abba’s love is infinite. This should be no 1, but seeing as it wraps all things, and I’ve felt it more towards the end of the year, it’s fitting here.

What did you learn in 2008?

Offtopic:

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in.  A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

I have learned that sometimes, despite all my best choices and all my best intentions… fate wins anyway.

    Totally off topic;

Your ‘About’ – Am in awe!

And since there is no comment box over there…

I yearn to float. Quite simply float about.

My personality is split into numerous fragments. So I go ahead.. argue with one, change one, suppress a little, break one further and tend to the pieces. But the battle rages on, hard, fast, loose and free. Okay, so its not whether one wins or looses, it’s the struggle… right?

    Thank you.

I am just listening to Stacie Orrico’s so simple–

    “So Simple”

(It could all be so simple, simple)

    Don’t need high heels
    For a good feel
You can keep the fancy clothes
I’ll take walkin in the rain
    Over things material
I’ll trade Melrose and the big names
Give me faces that I know
Just play a melody that everybody knows

    Take it down, down, down
And strip it to the core
I don’t really need much less is more, more, more

    [CHORUS:]
True to life, true to me
The way it’s got to be
So simple, so simple, so simple
Live to love, love to be
    Absolutely free
    (so simple, so simple, simple)

Give me wisdom, plain and truthful
Teach me somethin I don’t know
Plain as education, inspiration I suppose (yeah yeah)
Give me family, on a Sunday
    And I’ll be just fine
    There’s nothing in the world
That’s worth more of my time

    Take it down, down, down
And strip it to the core
I don’t really need much less is more, more, more

    [CHORUS x2]

Livin my dream, is my song to the world
    (let ‘em hear it)
    Sharin’ my soul and spirit
I’m hopin that you hear it
Got one (one) life (life) to live (live)
It’s only what you make it (make it)
Every new day’s a chance worth takin

    [CHORUS x2]

—sorry it took up all the space.

@Ashy, fate winning shouldn’t stop you from keeping on trying no? It’s the struggle. Our many facets, like our flaws, complete us so wholly, making us the unique people we are.

@Nevender, haven’t listened to Stacie in AGES. Looks like a nice song though.

@SilverBow, Abba is God to me. It’s what I call Him.

@Miss Fyne, bitchazzness? Sounds like bikaziness…
