the return of the rogue king

1 Dec

Wow. It feels like a lifetime since I last blogged or got online. How are you, good people?

It’s been a crazy four weeks, cannot even begin to recap. But, here’s a summary:

Kyebando – Nsooba

Last Friday, I finally left the family home deep in Kyebando. Don’t lie, you don’t know where that is. My work there was done, for a while. I finished the house renovations for that particular phase, spending a small fortune in the process. I got a tenant who was supposed to move in on Saturday, so I moved out Friday night. They however said they’d move in on Wednesday, so it’s all good. There’s still quite a lot of repairs, touchups, fixtures left to do, but I’ll do that over the next few years, until the place is done.

The most ironic thing is despite all my issues with the place. I finally found peace there, and I actually didn’t want to leave. Maybe it was because I was all alone, just me, my thoughts and God …

Bahai Temple

I discovered a small slice of heaven. A few kilometers after Kyebando, there’s the Bahai Temple. Just imagine an entire hill covered with a beautiful well kept garden, really old trees, lots of sitting spaces, lots of shade, a cool breeze wafting through the trees, birds chirping in the branches, an occasional squirrel popping out of the small bush a few meters from you, and a magnificent view from all sides of the hill. And to top it all of, at the very top of the hill, there’s a gorgeous worship temple.

This place is simply breathtaking. The tranquility, the silence, the fact that you can barely notice that there are other people on the hill (yeah, it’s that big). To me it’s the perfect alone place. Just God and I.

I have never ever craved for a camera that bad. So I’ve decided I’ll save 10k per week for the next two years and get myself my dream digital SLR.

But, I still had to capture it somehow, so I grabbed a paper and pen and sketched it out. Forgive the poor drawing. I haven’t drawn in years, but I hope it makes sense.

Sketch of the Bahai Temple

Sketch of the Bahai Temple

This was drawn from the very top of the hill. I was sitting on one of the benches and the old trees looked magnificent. You can see the Temple in the background.

Oh, and entrance is free. Open between 8am to 5:30pm everyday.

I inquired about entering the temple from one of the groundskeepers and the dude proceeded to try n convert me. I listened bravely for 10 minutes before calmly interrupting him, thanking him for his generosity and concern for the well being of my apparently doomed soul and continued on my way around the grounds.

Ill be back. More often than not.

BHH

Awesome. Met a couple of new people like Silver Bow, finally met Joseph (edited: thanks Darlene) from the Soup Kitchen. It’s Raymond, right? Apparently we were in same school, same house. My memory is that bad.

The usual suspects were there, Dee, Carlo, Chanel, Lulu, Yvonne, Ivan, Johnny, Antipop, Joshi, even Baz joined us towards the end.

Took a bottle of piss. errr… Mountain Dew.

Oh, on my way to BHH, I saw a real life Suzuki Kawasaki Ninja. Those things are beyond awesome!

And when I was leaving BHH I kept looking at the skies. I swear this flying craving is getting ridiculous.

Weekend

On Saturday, I spent close to three hours on a boda boda, from Kasubi to town to Namuwongo to Kabalagala to Kyebando to Mpererwe back to Kyebando then town to Wakaliga and finally back to Kasubi. In between I attended a kwanjula, paid off my landlady, took more Mountain madness on the bajaj (yup, just showing off), saw a long lost crush, pondered the meaning of life, found it’s answer, promptly forgot it and had an indepth discussion on goals and dreams with a close friend. By the time I hit the sack, it was 2am. I had to be up at 6am.

Spent the whole of Sunday re-pimping the Kasubi crib. I’d carried over all sorts of furniture, cases, restaurant equipment etc from Kyebando and just dumped it home. So for close to a week, you had to pull Ninja stunts to enter and leave the house.

The end result was not too shabby. But it’ll be a post for  another day.

I tried fixing the old tired TV from Keybando, some issues with the buttons. When I sealed it back up, all that it could show was one single dot of light in the middle of the screen. I almost died laughing. I’d even documented the whole process planning to blog about my awesomeness. LOL. Talk about God pulling the plug on vanity. Oh well, I’ll tackle it another day.

Guitar

Ever since I moved to Kyebando, my guitar has improved tremendously! I can play a few songs now, my strumming is getting better and my classical guitar is seriously improving. I’ll post a few tunes soon. A few more months and I’ll be ready to rock the world! Yeah!!

That’s a bit of a wrap up. Tonnes of stuff has been happening, but it’s waaay to much to put online.

And now, we resume regular programming.

We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

Emrys, I demand for these socks.

It’s colder here. Actually, scratch that, it’s freezing here. We’re in sub zero temps so I WANT those socks.

And that is a request from a boss…which makes it an order.

Those trees at the Bahai Temple look like nekkid women kneeling.

I visited the Bah’i Temple once…and yes, it’s is beautiful. And the fact that it’s perched high on the hill makes it even better.

  18. Solomon King 02. Dec, 2008 at 11:53 am #

@Rising Page: We’ll talk about the theme. Let me first organise meself these ends.

@Antipop: The guilty run before they are chased.

@Darlkom: thanks for the correction, I’ve suffered way too much mistaken identity from the last BHH.

@Erique: come on, Naked women?? for real?? and yup, close to three hours. The total bill cam to like 25k. Much less than a car though :D

@Teti: Maybe so, maybe so, but man, that was embarassing.

@Nevender: tis a place of much beauty, go there sometime, take your crush as well ;) but no shenanigans

    @Eddsla: indeed it is.

@Ms Caffeine: at least someone appreciates the pathetic attempt at drawing :D

    @toute le monde, merci beacoup.

Great to have the King back…Hopefully you’ve sowed some your royal genes x in that absences

Kyebando? I swear this is the 3rd time I’ve heard of that village.
That Temple, is it like when you are going to Ebbs? I saw some beautiful garden in what seamed to be a temple along the way. Is that the one?

I also see like a naked woman, I must have the same eyes like Cheri & Erique

Cheri has clouded my mind..i was seeing trees and remembering the amazing serenity that came over me when i was at that place for the first time(albeit for a funeral) and now not only do i see naked women..i am also thinking of perhaps shady postures or acts…but then this is the king’s ground….so
ahhh bajaj on 3 hours…i can imagine how much you got done, just the kind of ride you need with all klas endless sat jams(and pot holes)…
    And before i forget…really nice sketch….

  22. Teti 04. Dec, 2008 at 1:17 pm #

    I quoth:
@Rising Page: “We’ll talk about the theme. Let me first organise meself these ends.”

Does my complaint have validity now? :)

    Teti’s last blog post..Merry Christmas!

  23. Solomon King 04. Dec, 2008 at 2:11 pm #

Not in the least. Talking is not doing.

But in all honesty, if you did request for a theme, my apologies, it skipped my mind in all this chaos.

However, custom themes for nonhosted blogs are tricky, and we work mainly with WordPress.

Both reasons are why 2 W.E.A.K Dudes, Rogue King, Angela Kintu, Edge of Innocence and Elemental Edge have heavily customised themes, because it’s a lot easier once your site is on its own domain, not at blogspot.com or wordpress.com.

Email me at solomon [@] nodesix.com and I’ll break it down for you. Cheers.
